Man Charged with Sexually Assaulting Child During Charlotte Home Invasion

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he broke into a local residence and sexually assaulted a child. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) announced the arrest following an intensive investigation into the home invasion.

The incident occurred at a home in Charlotte, where the suspect allegedly forced entry into the residence. According to police, the suspect then assaulted a child inside the home before fleeing. Following the report, CMPD's Special Victims Unit and patrol officers worked rapidly to identify and locate the suspect, leading to his arrest shortly thereafter.

The suspect has been booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail and faces charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree statutory sex offense.
