DNA Evidence Links Charlotte Man to Brutal New Yearโs Zip-Tie Home Invasion
CHARLOTTE, NC โ Law enforcement officials have announced a major breakthrough in a violent home invasion case dating back to early 2024. According to the county sheriff, DNA evidence has successfully connected a Charlotte resident to the crime, leading to his arrest and charges.
Bound with Zip Ties
The incident occurred on New Year's Day, January 1, 2024, when suspects broke into a residence in Charlotte. The victim or victims were subjected to a terrifying ordeal, during which they were bound with zip ties while the intruders searched the home for valuables and cash. The suspects fled the scene, leaving the victims tied up.
For months, investigators pursued various leads without a suspect until forensic analysts processed DNA evidence recovered from the scene. The profile matched that of a local Charlotte man, providing the critical link investigators needed to secure an arrest warrant.
Sheriff Commends Forensic Team
The North Carolina Sheriff commended the work of the forensic division, emphasizing that even when cases seem cold, physical evidence remains a powerful tool. The suspect now faces multiple felony charges, including first-degree burglary, kidnapping, and armed robbery. He is currently being held in local custody awaiting trial.
