Smash-and-Grab Burglary Targets Sip City in Plaza Midwood

CHARLOTTE, NC — A popular neighborhood spot in Plaza Midwood was targeted by a smash-and-grab burglar on the morning of February 14, 2025. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is currently investigating the break-in at Sip City.

According to authorities, the suspect used a heavy object to shatter a front window of the establishment, located in the heart of Plaza Midwood. Once inside, the intruder ransacked the counter area, targeting the cash register and stealing a significant amount of cash. The suspect also took various inventory items, including beverages and high-end merchandise, before escaping through the broken window.

Staff members arriving for their shifts discovered the shattered glass and disarray inside the shop. The local community has rallied around Sip City, which is known as a favorite gathering spot in the neighborhood. Owners are currently working to repair the damage and assess the full extent of the stolen goods.
