Multiple Ballantyne Village Businesses Damaged in Overnight Break-ins

CHARLOTTE, NC — A string of overnight commercial break-ins has left several local business owners at Ballantyne Village picking up the pieces. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), officers responded to multiple alarms early Monday morning at the popular south Charlotte shopping destination, discovering shattered glass doors and ransacked storefronts.

Targeted Businesses and Damage

Investigators report that suspects targeted at least three upscale retail and dining establishments within the plaza. The perpetrators apparently smashed front glass windows or doors to gain quick entry. Once inside, they went straight for cash registers and easily transportable merchandise, causing thousands of dollars in property damage and business disruption.

“It is extremely disheartening to walk into your shop and see shattered glass everywhere,” said one affected business owner. “We work hard to serve this community, and to have our livelihood disrupted like this is incredibly frustrating.”

Ongoing Investigation

CMPD detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage from both the targeted businesses and plaza-wide security systems. Detectives are seeking information about any suspicious vehicles or individuals spotted near Ballantyne Village between the hours of 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.
