Armed Man Caught on Camera Attempting to Break into West Charlotte Home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Residents in a west Charlotte neighborhood are on high alert after home security footage captured a chilling attempted break-in by an armed suspect. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) has launched an active investigation and is calling on the public to help identify the individual caught on camera.

According to police reports and neighborhood watch alerts, the incident occurred at a residence in the western part of the city. Surveillance footage shows a man approaching the front door of the home. The suspect, who was carrying a visible firearm, tried to force his way inside. Fortunately, the home's security locks held, preventing the suspect from gaining access to the interior, and he fled the scene shortly after.

CMPD officers arrived on the scene to search the area, but no suspect was located. Fortunately, no one inside the home was injured during the attempted intrusion. Police have released descriptions from the video, showing a man wearing dark clothing and a mask, and are asking anyone with information or additional surveillance footage to contact Crime Stoppers immediately. Community members are reminded to secure their doors and windows and remain vigilant.
