Cheyenne Police and FBI Investigate Attempted ATM Theft Involving Semi-Truck at Dell Range Bank

CHEYENNE, Wyoming — The Cheyenne Police Department, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is asking for help from the community to identify a suspect involved in a destructive, attempted ATM theft at a local bank branch. The incident occurred in the early morning hours on Monday, February 9, 2026.

According to CPD detectives, police were dispatched around 3:00 a.m. to the Chase Bank branch located at 3502 Dell Range Boulevard following reports of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, officers found the drive-up ATM heavily damaged and partially dislodged from its concrete foundation, though the vault remained intact and no cash was stolen.

Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators revealed that the suspect utilized a large, white commercial semi-truck to execute the heist. The suspect backed the semi-truck up to the ATM, secured a heavy chain or strap around the machine, and attempted to pull it free using the truck's significant torque. The truck did not have a rear license plate, making initial identification difficult.

Due to the involvement of a banking institution, the FBI has joined the investigation. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed a white semi-truck operating suspiciously in the area of Dell Range Boulevard or who has dashcam footage from that night to contact the Cheyenne Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Silent Witness Laramie County.
