Surveillance Video Captures Stolen Car Smashing Into Beverly Liquor Store
CHICAGO, IL — Newly released surveillance footage has captured the moment a group of crash-and-grab thieves drove a stolen vehicle directly through the storefront of a liquor store in Chicago's Beverly neighborhood.
The incident occurred during the early morning hours at the Armanetti Town Liquor Store, located in the 10000-block of South Western Avenue on Chicago's Southwest Side. According to the Chicago Police Department, a group of four masked individuals used a white sedan to repeatedly back into the glass doors and security gates of the business until the structure collapsed.
Looting in Minutes
Once the storefront was breached, the video shows the suspects swarming the interior of the store. Within minutes, the group grabbed the store's cash register, along with high-value merchandise, before fleeing the scene. Officers report that the suspects abandoned the damaged sedan at the scene and escaped in a second vehicle, described as a dark-colored van.
No employees were inside the business at the time of the crash, and no injuries were reported. Detectives from Area Four are investigating the incident and looking into potential connections with other recent crash-and-grab burglaries targeting commercial establishments in the Humboldt Park and Garfield Park areas.
Call for Information
Business owners in the Beverly community have voiced concern over the violent entry methods used by the thieves, calling for increased police patrols during late-night hours. The Chicago Police Department has asked anyone with information or additional surveillance video of the suspects to contact local detectives.
