Rogers Park Burglary: Thieves Steal Entire Illinois Lottery Machine

CHICAGO (ABC7) — In an unusual heist, burglars stole an entire Illinois Lottery machine from a commercial property in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood, according to the Chicago Police Department and store surveillance footage.

The burglary took place on Sunday, November 30, 2025, in the far North Side neighborhood. Security video shows multiple individuals forcing entry into the business. Instead of targeting the cash register or smaller items, the group focused their efforts on dislodging and hauling away the heavy lottery terminal machine, loading it into a waiting vehicle.

Chicago police are analyzing the security footage and examining the scene for forensic evidence. Lottery officials have been notified of the machine's theft to disable its systems and prevent unauthorized prize redemptions. The investigation remains active, and Area Three Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the theft or the whereabouts of the lottery terminal to contact the police.
