Chicago Police Search for Suspect in Northwest Side Business Burglaries

CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert warning business owners on the city's Northwest Side about a series of recent burglaries targeting local retail establishments.

According to police reports, a lone offender has been targeting businesses during the late-night and early-morning hours. The suspect typically gains entry by throwing heavy objects through glass storefronts or forcing open rear doors. Once inside, the burglar quickly ransacks the cash register and flees with cash and valuable merchandise.

Area Five Detectives are currently investigating the pattern and examining surveillance video from several of the affected storefronts. Business owners in the targeted Northwest Side neighborhoods are being urged to secure their entry points, leave lights on overnight, and ensure their security cameras are fully operational.

No suspects are currently in custody, and police are asking anyone who notices suspicious activity around businesses at night to contact 911 immediately.
