Dunning's Adam's Jewelry Center Closes After 30 Years Following Burglary and Robbery
CHICAGO, Illinois โ After 30 years of serving the Dunning community on Chicago's northwest side, the owners of Adam's Jewelry Center have announced they will permanently close their doors following a series of crime incidents that occurred in early 2024.
The trouble began on New Year's Day, January 1, 2024, when the business, located on North Harlem Avenue, was burglarized. In the weeks that followed, the storefront was targeted again in a subsequent robbery. The physical damage, combined with the emotional and financial strain of back-to-back criminal targeting, led the family owners to make the difficult decision to shut down the retail shop.
Community members and long-time customers have expressed sadness over the departure of the neighborhood staple. While Chicago police continue to investigate the incidents and seek information regarding the suspects, the owners have expressed that the risks and costs of keeping the store open have simply become too high.
