Chicago Police Investigate Englewood Liquor Store Smash-and-Grab Burglary

CHICAGO, IL — Chicago police are investigating a smash-and-grab burglary that occurred early Tuesday morning, July 2, 2024, at a liquor store in the Englewood neighborhood on the city's South Side.

The incident took place at a business located on Halsted Street. According to investigators, a group of individuals broke through the store's front entrance using a heavy object. Once inside, they quickly grabbed inventory, including various high-end liquor bottles, before making their escape. The entire break-in occurred within minutes.

Area One Detectives responded to the scene to document the damage and gather physical evidence. Security footage from the business and public safety cameras along Halsted Street is currently being analyzed to identify the suspects and any vehicles involved in the heist.
