CHICAGO, IL — A coordinated crew of smash-and-grab burglars struck multiple commercial establishments in Chicago's affluent Lincoln Park neighborhood overnight, leaving local business owners facing costly repairs and stolen property. Among the targeted venues was the highly popular Dirk's Fish Market, a staple of the local community.

The incidents occurred during the early hours of Friday, February 13, 2026. According to preliminary reports, the perpetrators utilized a swift entry method, shattering glass storefront windows and doors to gain immediate access to the retail spaces. Once inside, the group focused on cash registers, safe boxes, and quick-to-carry retail goods before fleeing the area prior to police arrival.
