Smash-and-Grab Burglars Steal ATM From Amego Mini-Mart in Heart of Chicago

CHICAGO โ€” A commercial burglary crew targeting ATMs struck a convenience store in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood early Wednesday morning, according to Chicago Police.

The smash-and-grab occurred at the Amego mini-mart, located on Ashland Avenue. Suspects forced entry into the establishment by smashing through the front doors, targeting the store's ATM. The thieves managed to load the machine into a waiting vehicle and flee before officers arrived at the scene.

Detectives are investigating the incident and looking for connections to a series of similar ATM thefts that have occurred across the city in recent months. The store suffered significant property damage, but no injuries were reported. CPD Area Three Detectives are handling the case.

Police are urging business owners to secure their ATMs and report any suspicious vehicles or activity in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chicago Police Department.
