Chicago Police Crime Update: Uptown ATM Burglary and Charges Filed in Logan Square Home Invasion
CHICAGO, IL — Chicago police have released updates on two separate major crimes that occurred on the city's North and Northwest Sides. Detectives are searching for a group of thieves who stole an ATM from an Uptown store, while prosecutors have filed formal charges against a suspect in a brutal Logan Square home invasion and sexual assault.
Uptown ATM Burglary Under Investigation
The first incident occurred early Monday morning, October 13, 2025, in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. At approximately 1:20 AM, police responded to a business in the 5000 block of North Sheridan Road, just north of Argyle Street. A witness reported seeing three unidentified individuals smashing their way into the store, dragging the ATM out, and fleeing the scene in a waiting vehicle. Belmont Area detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the store, which captured the thieves dragging the heavy machine away, in an effort to identify the suspects.
Charges Filed in Logan Square Home Invasion and Assault
In a separate development, the Chicago Police Department announced that 36-year-old Law Davison has been arrested and charged in connection with a home invasion and sexual assault in the Logan Square neighborhood. The attack took place on the night of October 8, 2025, around 11:30 PM, when Davison allegedly broke into a residential property in the 2800 block of Milwaukee Avenue and sexually assaulted a 38-year-old female victim.
Davison was apprehended on October 9, 2025, after investigators tracked him using an Apple AirTag attached to the victim's stolen keys. Davison faces several felony charges, including home invasion, aggravated criminal sexual assault, and multiple weapons-related offenses.
The Chicago Police Department has emphasized the importance of residential security systems and personal tracking devices, which played a crucial role in the rapid apprehension of the Logan Square suspect.
Belmont Area detectives continue to investigate the Uptown commercial burglary, and any information can be submitted anonymously online at CPDTIP.com. Law Davison remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance.
