West Englewood Foot Locker Targeted in Early Morning Smash-and-Grab Burglary

A crew of smash-and-grab burglars targeted a Foot Locker retail store in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood early Tuesday morning. Police reports indicate that the incident occurred in the 6900 block of South Ashland Avenue, where thieves forced their way into the building by breaching the storefront window.

Upon entering the store, the suspects quickly gathered various items of high-value merchandise before fleeing the scene in waiting vehicles. Chicago police officers responded to the activated commercial burglar alarm, but the perpetrators had already escaped prior to their arrival. Officers secured the scene and began documenting the damage and missing inventory.

Detectives from Area One are leading the investigation, examining surveillance video from the retail location and nearby properties.
