Crash-and-Grab Thieves Steal ATM from BP Gas Station in Auburn Gresham
A gas station in Chicago's Auburn Gresham neighborhood became the latest target of a brazen "crash-and-grab" burglary. Thieves utilized a vehicle to smash through the storefront of a local business to steal an automated teller machine (ATM).
The incident took place at a BP gas station located near the intersection of West 87th Street and South Morgan Street. According to Chicago police officers, the suspects drove a vehicle directly into the glass facade of the gas station's convenience store. The impact caused extensive structural damage, allowing the perpetrators rapid entry into the building.
Once inside, the suspects targeted the ATM, loaded it into their vehicle, and quickly drove away before police patrols arrived on the scene. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the gas station and neighboring businesses to gather descriptions of the suspects and the vehicle involved in the crash. No injuries were reported by store employees during the incident.
