Two Women Detained Following Old Town Grocery Store Smash-and-Grab

CHICAGO, IL — Two female suspects are currently in police custody following a brazen smash-and-grab theft at a grocery store located in Chicago's historic Old Town neighborhood.

The incident, which occurred on March 10, 2026, prompted a rapid response from local law enforcement. According to authorities, the suspects shattered the storefront entry to gain access to the premises, targeting merchandise before attempting to flee. Officers arriving at the scene were able to apprehend the two women shortly after the break-in.

The grocery store sustained structural damage to its front windows, and investigators are assessing the value of the items targeted in the heist.
