Humboldt Park Foot Locker Store Targeted in Second Smash-and-Grab Burglary Within One Week

CHICAGO, IL — For the second time in a single week, a Foot Locker retail location on Kedzie Avenue in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood has fallen victim to a high-end "smash-and-grab" burglary. The repeated targeting of the athletic apparel store has sparked concerns among local business owners and residents regarding commercial security on the West Side.

Chicago Police officers responded to reports of a break-in at the Kedzie Avenue location, discovering shattered glass and ransacked display shelves. According to preliminary police reports, a group of thieves successfully breached the storefront's security window or door to gain entry, quickly stealing large quantities of athletic shoes and clothing before escaping.

This incident follows an almost identical burglary at the same storefront earlier in the week, indicating that organized retail theft rings may be actively targeting specific brand outlets in the area. CPD detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from both occurrences to determine if the same crew is responsible. No suspects are currently in custody, and the investigation remains active.
