Chicago Police Warn North Side Businesses Following String of Burglaries, Including Mag Mile Alo Yoga

CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago Police Department has issued a warning to business owners across the North Side and the Magnificent Mile shopping district after a series of commercial burglaries swept the area, targeting high-end retail locations including the Alo Yoga store.

The crime spree occurred during the early morning hours of June 5, 2025. According to investigators, a group of thieves targeted multiple retail establishments, smash-and-grabbing merchandise and cash drawers. At the Alo Yoga boutique on North Michigan Avenue, the suspects shattered a side glass window to gain access, stealing high-value activewear before fleeing in waiting vehicles.

Pattern of Early Morning Break-Ins

Detectives believe the same group of suspects is responsible for at least three other commercial burglaries reported on the North Side that same night. The suspects appear to target stores during the transition hours between midnight and dawn, using heavy tools to breach glass storefronts and metal gates within minutes.

In response to the crime wave, CPD has increased overnight patrols in retail corridors and is urging business owners to review their security protocols. Recommendations include installing shatter-resistant security film on windows, keeping interior lighting on overnight, and ensuring that all security camera systems are functioning and recording high-definition footage. No arrests have been made, and detectives are actively reviewing street surveillance and store footage to identify the culprits.
