Lakeview Restaurant Targeted in Smash-and-Grab Burglary; Cash Register Stolen

CHICAGO, IL — Authorities are searching for suspects who broke into a restaurant in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, shattering the front window and making off with the establishment's cash register.

The burglary took place on the night of February 24, 2026. According to the Chicago Police Department, the offenders targeted the restaurant during closed hours, breaking through the glass entrance to gain quick access. Once inside, they went straight for the cash register, ripping it from the counter before fleeing the area.

The restaurant owner discovered the damage and theft the following morning and contacted law enforcement. Investigators are currently gathering security video from the restaurant and neighboring properties. No suspect descriptions have been released, and the investigation remains open.
