Chicago Police Link Series of Crash-and-Grab Burglaries at Foot Locker Locations

CHICAGO, IL — Chicago Police detectives are investigating a pattern of commercial burglaries after linking at least two out of three recent crash-and-grab incidents targeting local Foot Locker stores. The crimes, which occurred in late August, involved suspects utilizing vehicles to breach the storefronts.

In each linked incident, the perpetrators drove a vehicle directly into the front entrance of the retail store to bypass security gates and glass. Once the physical barriers were compromised, multiple individuals entered the stores to steal large quantities of high-demand athletic shoes and clothing. The highly coordinated nature of these thefts suggests a single crew may be responsible for the spree.

The Chicago Police Department is actively reviewing security footage and seeking public assistance to identify the vehicles used in these crimes. Store owners are being reminded to reinforce their storefronts with safety bollards where permitted to prevent vehicle-ramming entry.
