Two Restaurants on Kedzie Avenue Targeted in Attempted Burglaries

CHICAGO — Authorities are investigating a string of attempted commercial burglaries targeting local restaurants along Kedzie Avenue in Chicago's Southwest Side neighborhoods of Gage Park and Little Village.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the incidents occurred early Friday morning on April 17, 2026. In both cases, suspects attempted to break into the establishments by targeting the front doors or windows, causing structural damage to the properties. However, security measures or alarms apparently deterred the intruders, preventing them from completing the thefts or stealing items inside.

Business owners arrived in the morning to find glass shattered and locks damaged. The close proximity of the two incidents on Kedzie Avenue has led investigators to believe they may be linked to the same crew of suspects. Business operators in the area are sharing descriptions of the suspects and security camera footage to assist in the investigation.

Police have increased patrols along the commercial corridors in Gage Park and Little Village in response to the incidents. Area One Detectives are leading the investigation into the attempted break-ins, and no arrests have been made at this time.
