Smash-and-Grab Burglary Targets South Shore DTLR Retail Store

CHICAGO, IL โ€” A retail clothing and footwear store in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood was the target of a destructive smash-and-grab burglary on August 28, 2025. The incident occurred overnight at the DTLR store, a popular retail destination known for streetwear and athletic apparel.

According to initial reports, a group of thieves forced entry into the establishment by smashing through the storefront glass. Once inside, the suspects quickly gathered high-value brand inventory, including footwear and apparel, before fleeing the scene before police arrived. The total value of the stolen items and the extent of the property damage are still being assessed by store management.

Chicago Police detectives are currently investigating the incident. They are analyzing surveillance footage from the store and surrounding businesses to identify the vehicles and individuals involved. No suspects are in custody at this time.
