Two Ohio Suspects Charged in $137,000 Jewelry Store Theft at Chicago-Area Mall

CHICAGO โ€” Prosecutors have filed felony charges against two Ohio residents accused of breaking into a jewelry store inside a prominent Chicago-area suburban shopping mall and escaping with over $137,000 in high-value pieces.

The incident occurred during a coordinated holiday-weekend heist. Police state that the suspects bypassed mall security protocols to gain access to the interior of the jewelry retailer. Once inside, they forced open display cases, collecting a substantial haul of rings, necklaces, and watches before fleeing the premises.

Local law enforcement, working in conjunction with mall security and regional retail theft task forces, tracked the suspects' getaway vehicle and apprehended them shortly after the crime. Both men have been charged with felony burglary and grand theft. They are currently being held in custody awaiting their initial bond hearings, while investigators work to determine if the pair is connected to similar out-of-state mall burglaries.
