Chicago Police Investigate Pilsen Liquor Store Break-In at F & R Liquors

CHICAGO — Chicago Police are investigating a commercial burglary that took place at a neighborhood liquor store in the historic Pilsen neighborhood on the city's Lower West Side.

The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, August 19, 2025, at F & R Liquors Inc., situated in the 2100 block of South Halsted Street. Officers were dispatched to the scene following a commercial burglar alarm activation. Upon arrival, police observed that the store's entry point had been damaged, allowing intruders access to the interior.

According to preliminary reports, the perpetrators broke through the front facade of the business, targetting high-value merchandise. It is currently unclear how much inventory or cash was taken during the quick strike. The suspect or suspects fled the area immediately after the break-in, prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

No injuries were reported, and F & R Liquors Inc. remained closed temporarily as staff assessed the losses and boarded up the shattered storefront. Area Four Detectives are leading the investigation, collecting evidence and requesting any nearby business owners with surveillance systems to share relevant security footage.
