Lincoln Park Business Hit by Smash-and-Grab Burglary for 4th Time
CHICAGO, IL — A business in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood has been targeted by smash-and-grab burglars for the fourth time, raising serious concerns for local merchants. The incident took place near the intersection of West Armitage Avenue and North Kenmore Avenue.
According to the store's manager, the perpetrators shattered the storefront glass early Wednesday morning to gain rapid entry. Once inside, the group quickly snatched high-value merchandise before fleeing the scene in a waiting getaway vehicle. The recurring nature of these crimes has left the business facing high repair costs and increased security challenges.
Chicago police responded to the activated security alarm around 3:00 AM on July 24, 2024. While officers arrived shortly after, the suspects had already escaped. Detectives are reviewing security footage from the store and surrounding street cameras to track down the vehicles involved in the burglary.
Community leaders and business owners are calling for stronger security measures and increased police patrols in the Lincoln Park shopping district to prevent further incidents.
