Burglars Steal ATM from Lower West Side Currency Exchange in Chicago

CHICAGO, Illinois — Authorities are investigating an overnight commercial burglary on Chicago's Lower West Side, where a group of individuals managed to break into a local business and steal an automated teller machine (ATM).

According to preliminary police reports, the incident occurred early Tuesday morning, January 23, 2024. A group of unidentified burglars targeted a currency exchange business in the neighborhood. The suspects forced their way through the storefront, causing property damage to gain access to the interior.

Once inside, the perpetrators focused their efforts on the store's ATM. They successfully detached the machine and loaded it into a vehicle before fleeing the scene.
