Surveillance Video Captures White Jeep Ramming Bronzeville BP Station for ATM Heist

CHICAGO (FOX32) — Surveillance video has captured a brazen smash-and-grab burglary at a Bronzeville BP gas station where a crew used an SUV to plow into the store's front entrance before hauling off an ATM.

The incident occurred on Friday, May 22, 2026, at approximately 4:10 a.m. at the BP station located in the 3101 block of South Michigan Avenue. According to investigators, four individuals used a white Jeep to smash through the building's glass and metal facade. The force of the impact left the storefront completely open and structurally compromised.

Quick Removal of the ATM

The security footage shows the suspects entering the rubble of the front doors, targeting the ATM, and carrying it out. They loaded the cash machine into a separate gray SUV that was waiting as a getaway vehicle. The suspects then fled the scene in the SUV, leaving behind the white Jeep at the entrance.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in connection with the crash or the theft. The gas station's convenience store was closed to the public at the hour of the break-in, but the site was left with significant physical damage that required immediate boarding up.
