Man Charged in Columbus Armed Robbery and Police Pursuit on Christmas

COLUMBUS, Ohio — What was meant to be a quiet Christmas Day turned into a high-stakes police chase after a man allegedly committed an armed robbery at a Columbus business. The suspect now faces multiple felony charges, including armed robbery and fleeing from law enforcement.

According to Columbus Police, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery where the suspect brandished a weapon and fled the scene in a vehicle. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the suspect refused to pull over, initiating a pursuit through city streets. The chase ended when police successfully stopped the vehicle and took the driver into custody.

No serious injuries were reported during the incident or the subsequent pursuit. The suspect is currently held at the Franklin County Correction Center. Prosecutors emphasized the severity of committing violent offenses, especially during a holiday when community safety resources are stretched.
