Burglars Ram SUV into Polaris Cabela's to Steal Firearms

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A daring early morning break-in at the Polaris Cabela's sporting goods store has left local authorities searching for suspects who used a vehicle to breach the building and steal several firearms.

According to Columbus Division of Police reports, the incident occurred early on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Suspects driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) intentionally rammed the vehicle through a garage door at the retail location situated in the bustling Polaris shopping district. The impact caused significant structural damage, allowing the perpetrators immediate access to the interior of the store.

Once inside, the burglars targeted the store's firearm section. Authorities confirmed that multiple guns were taken during the brief heist. The suspects managed to flee the scene in the SUV, or a secondary getaway vehicle, before officers arrived in response to the store's security alarms.

Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage from Cabela's and neighboring businesses in the Polaris area to identify the vehicle and the individuals involved. Forensic teams also processed the scene for physical evidence left behind during the breach.

The Columbus Police Department has urged anyone with information regarding the burglary, the identity of the suspects, or the whereabouts of the stolen firearms to contact their burglary unit or submit an anonymous tip through Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS. A reward may be available for information leading to an arrest.
