Tragic Home Invasion on Detroit's East Side Leaves One Dead, Another Hospitalized

DETROIT, Michigan — A tragic and violent home invasion unfolded on Detroit's east side early Thursday morning, resulting in the death of one man and the hospitalization of a woman. The incident, which has left the local neighborhood in shock, occurred at an apartment complex located on Houston-Whittier Street.

According to preliminary reports from the Detroit Police Department, a male suspect forcibly gained entry into the apartment by kicking in the door. Once inside, the intruder immediately opened fire on the occupants. Responding emergency units and police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting was reported.

Medical personnel pronounced one male victim dead at the scene. A female victim who also sustained injuries during the attack was stabilized and rushed to a local hospital for urgent medical treatment.
