Detroit Man Charged After Allegedly Coercing 11-Year-Old Daughter to Help with Home Invasion and Auto Theft

DETROIT, Michigan — A Detroit man has been arrested and charged in connection with a home invasion and car theft, with prosecutors bringing forward additional allegations that the suspect forced his 11-year-old daughter to assist him in committing the crimes.

According to court documents filed on May 5, 2025, the suspect broke into a residential property in Detroit, targeting both valuables inside the home and a vehicle parked on the premises. Investigators allege that during the course of the break-in, the father actively coerced his underage daughter to participate in the illegal activities, utilizing her to facilitate the theft before driving off in the stolen vehicle.

Following a rapid response by local police officers, the vehicle was intercepted, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The young girl was safely recovered and is currently receiving support from child protective services. Prosecutors have expressed deep concern over the exploitative nature of the crime, highlighting the severe emotional and physical risk the child was subjected to.

The defendant faces multiple charges, including first-degree home invasion, receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is currently being held in custody pending his arraignment and preliminary hearings.
