Detroit Homeowner Kennie Bowles Shot at While Confronting Burglars on Braile Street

DETROIT, Michigan โ€” A Detroit homeowner is lucky to be alive after suspects fired multiple gunshots at him during an attempted break-in on the city's west side. The entire incident, which occurred in the early morning hours, was captured on security footage.

The confrontation took place at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at a residence on Braile Street. The homeowner, identified as Kennie Bowles, was awakened by alerts from his home security cameras showing individuals behaving suspiciously outside his property. Bowles decided to go outside to deter the potential burglars and protect his home.

As soon as Bowles stepped outside and confronted the suspects, they drew firearms and immediately shot at him. Multiple bullets struck the front of the home, causing property damage and shattering glass on the porch. The suspects fled the scene immediately after firing. Miraculously, Bowles was not hit by the gunfire.

Police Seek Help Identifying Suspects

The Detroit Police Department is analyzing the security video in hopes of identifying the armed suspects. DPD officers collected bullet casings and evidence from the porch. Authorities advise citizens to remain inside and contact 911 immediately if they spot intruders, rather than confronting armed suspects directly.
