Robbery Suspect Fatally Shot by Elyria Police After Pursuit to North Olmsted

ELYRIA, Ohio — A suspect involved in an armed robbery at a local AT&T store was fatally shot by Elyria police officers after a pursuit ended in North Olmsted, law enforcement officials confirmed.

According to initial reports, the suspect entered the retail store and demanded merchandise and cash at gunpoint. Officers arrived on the scene quickly, but the suspect fled in a vehicle, prompting a high-speed pursuit. Elyria officers, alongside state and regional law enforcement, tracked the fleeing vehicle as it crossed city limits.

The chase ended in North Olmsted, where police confronted the suspect. During the encounter, officers opened fire, striking the suspect, who later succumbed to their injuries. The scene was secured for forensic investigation, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has been called in to lead the inquiry into the officer-involved shooting, which is standard procedure in the state.
