Erie man accused of breaking into westside residence and assaulting two men

ERIE, Pa. — An Erie man has been arrested and charged after authorities say he broke into a home on the city's west side and assaulted two occupants inside early Thursday morning.

Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of West 8th Street at approximately 2:45 a.m. following reports of a violent break-in. Upon arrival, police found two male victims who had sustained minor injuries during a physical altercation with an intruder.

According to police documents, the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Erie resident Marcus Davis, allegedly kicked in the back door of the residence. Once inside, he confronted the two residents, initiating a physical altercation. The victims managed to subdue Davis until police arrived and took him into custody.

Davis has been charged with felony burglary, criminal trespass, and two misdemeanor counts of simple assault. He was arraigned before District Judge Tom Carney and placed in the Erie County Prison after failing to post bail. The investigation is ongoing to determine a motive for the break-in.
