Armed Robbery at Florence Subway Restaurant Triggers Lockdowns

FLORENCE, S.C. — An alleged armed robbery at a local Subway restaurant in Florence led to temporary lockdowns at nearby buildings as police searched for the perpetrator.

The incident occurred during normal business hours when a suspect entered the restaurant brandishing a weapon and demanding money from the cash register. After securing an undisclosed sum of cash, the suspect fled on foot. Due to the proximity of the incident and the active pursuit by law enforcement, neighboring facilities, including nearby schools or community centers, were placed on lockdown as a precautionary safety measure.

Officers established a search perimeter and deployed K-9 units in an attempt to track the suspect, but no arrests were immediately made. The lockdowns were lifted once authorities determined there was no direct threat to the surrounding facilities. The investigation remains ongoing, and Florence police are reviewing video surveillance to help identify the armed suspect.
