Teenager Detained After Attempted Theft and Commercial Trespassing in Florence

FLORENCE, South Carolina — A 17-year-old teenager has been detained and charged following a commercial trespassing and attempted theft incident in Florence on Friday, May 2, 2025.

According to the Florence Police Department, the juvenile suspect entered a local storefront and attempted to steal inventory. However, the attempt was unsuccessful, and the teenager ultimately fled the business without taking any money or successful loot.

Responding officers located and detained the youth shortly after the incident. Due to the suspect's age, their identity has not been released. The teenager faces charges related to commercial trespassing and attempted retail theft as the police complete their investigation.
