Florence County Deputies Investigate String of Church Burglaries

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. — The Florence County Sheriff’s Office has launched an active investigation into a series of break-ins targeting multiple houses of worship in the county.

Deputies responded to reports of burglaries at several churches over the past week. According to investigators, the suspect or suspects forced entry into the buildings, causing property damage and stealing electronic equipment, musical instruments, and monetary donations. The targeted locations suffered ransacking, causing distress to the local religious community.

Sheriff's deputies are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the areas surrounding the targeted churches and are urging anyone with information to step forward. "Targeting houses of worship, which serve as sanctuaries for our community, is particularly egregious," said a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office. Increased patrols have been scheduled around local churches to prevent further incidents.
