FBI Intervenes After Thieves Steal Cash From Fort Lauderdale ATM During Repairs

Federal investigators are looking into a bold theft in Fort Lauderdale where cash was stolen from an automated teller machine (ATM) right under the nose of a repair technician. The incident occurred during broad daylight while the machine was open for maintenance.

Opportunistic Theft During Maintenance

According to initial reports, a repairman was actively working on the ATM when suspects seized the opportunity to access the exposed cash vaults. The thieves successfully grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene before law enforcement could arrive. The repairman was not reported injured during the confrontation.

Federal Authorities Take Over Case

Because the theft involved a banking institution's ATM, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has stepped in to lead the investigation alongside the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. Investigators are reviewing area surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to track down the suspects.
