Suspect Arrested Following Overnight Burglary at Fort Myers Dollar General

FORT MYERS, FL โ€” Police have taken one suspect into custody following an overnight break-in at a local Dollar General store on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Officers responded to an active commercial alarm triggered at the retail location in the early morning hours.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement observed signs of forced entry and immediately set up a secure perimeter around the building. Officers entered the store and located the suspect, who was still inside attempting to gather merchandise. The suspect was arrested without incident and faces multiple charges, including burglary of an unoccupied structure and criminal mischief.

The quick response of the patrol units and the reliability of the store's alarm system prevented further loss. The Fort Myers Police Department continues to investigate whether this incident is connected to other recent retail burglaries in the area.
