Fresno Convenience Stores Face Wave of Robberies, Including Glass-Door Shooting

FRESNO, California — Convenience store workers and local authorities in Fresno are on high alert following a series of violent armed robberies. Police have released descriptions of suspects involved in two separate incidents in the east central and southwest areas of the city.

In early September, an armed robbery took place at a convenience store in east central Fresno. The suspect brandished a weapon and demanded cash from the register before escaping on foot. Authorities immediately launched an investigation and sought the public's assistance in identifying the individual from security camera stills.

Months later, a second, more volatile incident occurred at a convenience store in southwest Fresno. According to police reports, a robbery suspect attempted to flee the store but found himself locked inside by the clerk's quick activation of the security door. Trapped, the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots directly through the glass doors to blow out the panel, escaping through the shattered opening. Fortunately, no store employees or bystanders were struck by the gunfire. Fresno police are investigating both cases to determine if there is any connection between the suspects involved.
