Gainesville Man Apprehended and Charged Following Car Wash Burglary

GAINESVILLE, FL — A Gainesville man is behind bars after allegedly burglarizing a local car wash and attempting to steal cash and maintenance equipment.

The break-in occurred during the early morning hours when the business was closed. According to the Gainesville Police Department, the suspect forced open a door to the main office and utility room housing the cash collection and coin-dispensing machines. Once inside, the suspect allegedly vandalized the change machines and ransacked drawers in search of cash reserves and tools.

The business owner discovered the damage later that morning and immediately notified law enforcement. Officers reviewed high-definition surveillance footage from the facility, which clearly showed the suspect's face and clothing. Armed with this description, patrol officers located a man matching the suspect's description a few blocks away from the scene.

Upon stopping the suspect, officers discovered tools commonly used in burglaries, along with a significant amount of loose change and items matching those stolen from the car wash. The suspect was arrested on the spot and has been charged with:
