Green Bay: Man Charged with Attempted Homicide in Vigilante Stabbing
A recent stabbing in Green Bay, Wisconsin, was allegedly fueled by a stranger's misplaced vigilante justice, according to a newly released criminal complaint. Justin Bacon, 29, is currently facing serious charges, including attempted first-degree intentional homicide and armed burglary, following the violent incident in the 900 block of N. Clay Street.
A Violent Misunderstanding
The attack took place around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. According to the complaint, Baconโwho did not know the victimโwas visiting a neighbor's backyard when he overheard the woman yelling at her child. Believing that child abuse was occurring, Bacon allegedly took matters into his own hands in a horrific manner.
A witness told police that Bacon forced his way into the victim's home through the living room. While screaming profanities and accusing the woman of hurting her children, he stabbed her in the chest before fleeing the scene. The victim, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
When questioned by police about Bacon's claims of abuse, the victim admitted that she had recently disciplined her twelve-year-old and frequently yelled at her children, but vehemently denied abusing them. She suggested someone may have simply overheard her shouting and jumped to conclusions.
Suspect Captured
Following an hours-long search, Green Bay police managed to locate and arrest Bacon. Upon questioning, he claimed to have no knowledge of the stabbing. Records from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections indicate that Bacon had just been released from prison on May 13 and has a history of prior convictions, including first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
