Up to 'Snow' Good: Greenville Police Arrest Commercial Break-In Suspect During Winter Storm
GREENVILLE, South Carolina โ A suspect attempting to take advantage of severe winter weather to commit a commercial break-in was caught red-handed by Greenville police officers during the height of a snowstorm.
Caught in the Cold
In the early hours of Sunday morning, as snow and freezing temperatures blanketed the area, Greenville law enforcement responded to a break-in alarm at a commercial property. Despite the hazardous road conditions and low visibility, officers arrived quickly at the scene, where they observed signs of forced entry.
Arrest in the Snow
Police searched the immediate vicinity and quickly located a suspect who was trying to flee the area on foot through the freshly fallen snow. Officers apprehended the individual without incident. Investigators noted that the suspect's fresh footprints in the snow provided a direct path leading from the scene of the break-in directly to where they were captured.
The suspect has been charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools. The Greenville Police Department reminded business owners to remain vigilant and ensure their security systems are fully operational, even during severe weather events.
