Unopened Tractor Supply Store Burglarized in Hampton Before Grand Opening
HAMPTON, Va. โ In a highly unusual incident, the newly constructed Tractor Supply Co. retail store in Hampton was burglarized before celebrating its official grand opening. The break-in has left the local business community stunned as police search for those responsible.
According to police reports, suspects forced entry into the building under the cover of darkness, taking advantage of the fact that the location was not yet fully staffed or open to public traffic. The facility was in the final stages of stocking inventory and preparing displays for its launch.
Stock and Equipment Stolen
The perpetrators allegedly targeted high-value tools, outdoor equipment, and agricultural supplies that had recently been delivered to the site. Staff members discovered the break-in when they arrived in the morning to continue preparations for the grand opening ceremony.
โIt is incredibly frustrating to deal with a burglary before we've even had the chance to welcome our first customer,โ a representative associated with the project remarked. Despite the incident, corporate management has stated that they intend to proceed with the planned opening, though some adjustments will be necessary to replace stolen stock.
The Hampton Police Division is actively examining security footage from surrounding properties and requesting that anyone who saw suspicious vehicles or activity near the Tractor Supply location contact investigators immediately.
