Three Juveniles Arrested Following Break-In at Maple Elementary School in Hesperia

HESPERIA, CA (April 2, 2024) — Three juveniles have been arrested and cited in connection with a break-in and subsequent property damage at Maple Elementary School, Hesperia School Police reported on Tuesday.

The break-in occurred on the afternoon of Monday, March 25, 2024, while the school was closed for the annual spring break. School police officers launched an investigation after receiving reports of substantial property damage on the campus. Investigators utilized security camera footage from the school's surveillance network to identify the three suspects involved in the incident.

The three minors were arrested and cited for commercial burglary (California Penal Code Section 459) and felony vandalism (California Penal Code Section 594(b)(1)). No school staff or students were present on campus during the break-in, and no injuries were reported.

The Hesperia Unified School District praised the quick response and investigative work of the Hesperia School Police Department in identifying the individuals responsible. The names of the suspects have not been released due to their juvenile status.
