Suspect Found Hiding in Bathroom Following Break-In at Hesperia Public Health Building

HESPERIA, CA — A commercial burglary investigation led to the arrest of a suspect who was found hiding inside a bathroom at the Hesperia Public Health Building on Tuesday.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Hesperia Station deputies responded to an active burglar alarm at the facility located on the 16400 block of Smoke Tree Street. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies observed signs of forced entry, indicating that a break-in had just occurred.

Deputies established a perimeter around the public health facility and conducted a systematic search of the building's interior. During the search, deputies located the suspect, who had barricaded himself inside a public restroom in an attempt to evade law enforcement.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Investigators are currently assessing the building to determine if any property was stolen or if additional damage was caused during the break-in. The suspect was booked into the High Desert Detention Center on charges of commercial burglary.
