Thieves Use Chevy Silverado to Ram Into Hesperia Tool Store, Stealing Over $10,000 in Inventory
HESPERIA, CA (February 1, 2024) — A local business owner is pleading for help and increased security after thieves used a pickup truck to smash through a roll-up garage door and burglarize a tool store in Hesperia, stealing more than $10,000 worth of discounted power tools.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of January 31, 2024, at 760 Discount Tools. According to surveillance footage released by the business, suspects operating a dark-colored Chevrolet Silverado backed the truck directly into one of the storefront's roll-up doors, forcing it open and allowing them to gain access to the showroom floor within seconds.
The owner of the shop, Fabiola Diaz, expressed deep distress and frustration over the incident. Diaz noted that the theft of power tools, combined with the cost of building repairs, places an immense financial burden on the small business. She revealed that this burglary marks the 17th time her business has been targeted by thieves in the last two years alone.
โIt's incredibly disheartening,โ Diaz said. โWe work so hard to serve this community, and to be targeted repeatedly makes it very difficult to keep going under the current economic conditions.โ
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is actively investigating the ram-raid burglary and is asking anyone with information or additional surveillance footage from the area to come forward.
