Suspects Arrested in Connection With Break-In and Vandalism at Hesperia Elementary School

HESPERIA, CA (April 2, 2024) — Local authorities have apprehended three juvenile suspects in connection with a break-in and extensive vandalism at Maple Elementary School, officials announced on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Monday, March 25, 2024, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., while the campus was closed to students and staff for the spring recess. According to the Hesperia School Police Department and school district administrators, the suspects managed to breach the campus security and gain entry to the school facilities, subsequently causing significant damage to property inside.

Following a swift and thorough investigation by school police officers, who analyzed surveillance footage and gathered local leads, all three suspects were successfully identified. The juveniles, whose names are being withheld due to their age, were arrested and cited for commercial burglary (California Penal Code Section 459) and felony vandalism (California Penal Code Section 594(b)(1)).
