HONOLULU — Authorities are searching for suspects following an armed robbery in the Piʻikoi neighborhood, where a victim was held at gunpoint and stripped of a valuable gold chain. The Honolulu Police Department has released description details of the suspects as they appeal to the public for help in identifying the individuals responsible.
According to police reports, the robbery occurred along a busy sidewalk in the Piʻikoi St. corridor. The victim was approached by two unidentified individuals who produced a handgun and demanded the victim's gold chain. After taking the jewelry, the suspects fled the scene in a waiting vehicle. Fortunately, the victim did not report any physical injuries but was shaken by the encounter.
The incident has intensified local debates about safety in the Piʻikoi and Ala Moana neighborhoods, which have experienced a series of street robberies in recent months. Business owners in the area are reviewing their security camera footage to see if the suspects or their getaway vehicle were captured. HPD is asking residents and motorists who were in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage to contact detectives immediately.
CrimeStoppers Honolulu is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspects. In the meantime, police advise residents to remain aware of their surroundings, avoid wearing highly visible expensive jewelry in public spaces, and walk in well-lit, populated areas whenever possible.
